Sisi: Egypt ready to extend assistance to Turkey, Syria to face earthquake repercussions

CAIRO – 6 February 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has expressed Egypt's readiness to send assistance to Turkey and Syria to face the repercussions of the massive earthquake that hit parts of the Middle East Monday.

In a press conference with president Zoran Milanović of Croatia, president Sisi sent condolences to the peoples of the two countries and the families of the quake victims.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended - in a statement -Monday condolences to Turkey and Syria on the deaths of hundreds in a destructive earthquake that hit Eastern Mediterranean.

 

The ministry also wished the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed readiness to provide any help needed to deal with the consequences of the natural disaster.

More than 1,500 people have died and rescuers are racing to pull survivors from beneath the rubble after a devastating earthquake ripped through Turkey and Syria, leaving destruction and debris on each side of the border.
