Cold weather to be felt Tuesday - file
CAIRO - 31 January 2023: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned that the country will witness some weather fluctuations Tuesday.
In a telephone interview with the “Good Morning Egypt” program on Channel One, Dr. Manar Ghanem, a member of the media center at the Meteorological Authority, said that the country is witnessing a state of drop in temperatures in most parts, affected by air masses coming from southern Europe.
She stated that there is an extension of an air depression that leads to the proliferation of low and medium clouds throughout the day, which increases the feeling of low temperatures.
She further explained that there is wind activity in most regions of the republic between
30 to 40 kilometers per hour, and thus leads to wind activity and a feeling of coldness.
The weather during the daytime periods will be cold in most of the northern coasts and the governorates of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, while it is warm in southern Upper Egypt and South Sinai.
In the same context, Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, directed the governorates exposed to rain, according to the reports of the Meteorological Authority, to continue to raise the level of preparations and emergencies, to monitor any emergency cases to deal with them immediately, in light of the country’s exposure to a wave of bad weather.
Amna indicated, in a statement Tuesday, that the central operations room in the ministry, along with the governorates’ operations rooms and the operations room of the Information and Decision Support Center in the Council of Ministers, is following up on procedures for dealing with any emergency crisis, and procedures for suctioning rainwater accumulations in case of rainfall.
The report of the Operations Room of the Ministry of Local Development indicated that light rain fell in the cities of Baltim and Borj Al-Burlus in Kafr El-Sheikh, Marsa Matrouh Center in Matrouh Governorate, and some cities in Damietta Governorate, and no rainwater gatherings were reported.
