CAIRO – 23 January 2023: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli attended Monday the signing ceremony of MoUs with each of the Palestinian and Somali governments to promote cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) and postal sectors.

The deals were signed by Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat with each of his Palestinian counterpart Ishaq Sidr and Somali counterpart, Jama Hassan Khalif.

Talaat said the MoU with the Palestinian government covers technical cooperation on policy formulation and implementation in both sectors, while enriching the legal frameworks regulating mutual cooperation.

The deal also involves drawing up efficient cooperation mechanisms, sharing relevant expertise and best practices that will enable both parties to perform their missions more efficiently and cut business costs, the minister added.

Meanwhile, Amr said the deal with Somalia aims to support fruitful and close bilateral cooperation through the exchange of experiences in the field of information and communication technology on the basis of common interest.

Areas of cooperation under the MoU include capacity building by providing specialized training programs for the Somali side on the latest technologies in the field of communications, such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, information security, optical fibers, embedded systems, and cybersecurity.
