Egypt to establish integrated center for psychological, addiction treatment

CAIRO - 3 January 2023: Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, directed the preparation of an integrated study to establish an integrated center for psychological treatment and addiction treatment. 
 
This center is to become a basic focal point for the treatment of those who are financially unable, in accordance with the Ministry's strategy to improve the public health of citizens.
 
This came during his weekly meeting, Monday, with the ministry's leaders and heads of agencies, and with the participation of all the ministry's undersecretaries in the governorates via the "video conference" technology, to follow up the progress of work in the various files of the ministry.
 
During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the work plan for the Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment for the year 2023, which includes types of services developed in all services, in addition to the construction and development plan.
 
He stressed that the plan is consistent with international standards and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
 
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the minister was keen during the meeting to review the secretariat’s plan for establishing centers of excellence for the treatment of autism spectrum, as it is scheduled to establish 20 centers in the governorates of the republic within 5 years. 
 
Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the minister directed quickly to prepare an integrated plan for automation and digitization for all sectors and bodies of the ministry to start implementing it with the concerned authorities, especially the monitoring and follow-up sector, to ensure the sustainability of the health system’s follow-up and its periodic evaluation.
