CAIRO – 30 December 2022: Moderate rains poured over Alexandria on Thursday with impeding traffic movement, while shipping and loading operations at the harbors went on normally and regularly.

Alexandria Governor Mohamed El Sherif ordered taking all necessary preparations for removing the accumulated rain water to ensure easy traffic round the clock.

Alexandria governorate is currently hit by the Christmas storm which is accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds and runs for two days.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has expected light to moderate rain on the northwestern coasts and northern Lower Egypt from Friday to Wednesday.

The EMA also said light rain is possible on parts of southern Lower Egypt today.

Over the coming week, cool weather will prevail during the early morning and nighttime nationwide, the EMA said.

Nice weather is expected in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, northern coasts, and northern Upper Egypt while warm weather is expected in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.

Average temperatures based on the EMA expectations:

- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 20 - Lows: 11

- Northern coasts – Highs: 20 – Lows: 13

- South Sinai – Highs: 23 – Lows: 14

- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 21 – Lows: 9

- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 23 – Lows: 10
