CAIRO – 21 December 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry headed Wednesday to the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam, leading the Egyptian delegation that will attend the ceremony held to celebrate the first filling of the Julius Nyerere Dam constructed by an Egyptian coalition.

The dam is situated on the Rufigi River, and is implemented by Arab Contractors and Elsewedi Electric. Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem al-Gazar is among the members of delegation, and the ceremony will take place on December 22.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry's press statement pointed out that the $3-billion dam is "an embodiment of the capabilities of Egyptian firms in executing mega infrastructure projects in African countries, and an example of regional cooperation."
