COP 27 president designates 3 areas where green transition is key for climate mitigation

CAIRO – 17 November 2022: COP 27 President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry designated Thursday in the opening of Climate Solutions Thematic Day three areas where green transition is key to achieve mitigation.

 

Those are urbanization, transportation, and waste management. The minister equally noted that the success of international climate action is bound to the cooperation of all parties, including governments, private sector, NGOs, regional and international organizations.   

 

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated Monday in a Round Table on the ambitions of mitigating the consequences of climate change before 2030.

 

Simon Steele, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change along with other delegations of several attended the round table meeting, according Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid.

 

Shoukry stressed the importance of exerting efforts to mitigate the repercussions of climate change, in light of what international scientific reports indicate that it is necessary to move in this regard quickly to maintain global temperatures within the safe rates.

 

Shoukry also highlighted the opportunity the round table provides to push forward efforts to mitigate the repercussions of climate change by sending a message confirming the availability of political will on all parties to commit to mitigation efforts.
