CAIRO – 16 July 2017: The armed air forces destroy 15 vehicles, loaded with weapons and ammunition, before heading into the western border of the country.

Through the attempted efforts to secure the state borders, the Egyptian armed forces responded with full force to everything that might affect the country’s national security.

The General Command of the armed forces ordered to explore the borders area and to detect, as well as to tackle, any hostile targets, in which they have dealt with for the past 24 hours. This has then resulted in exploding and destructing a total of 15 vehicles, four-wheel drive loaded with quantities of weapons and ammunition

On the other hand, army forces affiliated to the third field army succeeded, in collaboration with Air Force and in coordination with the security services, in defeating a plan to carry out an act of aggression, after tackling a high-risk terrorist site.

Further, the forces were able to target 6 elements of Takfiri groups within mountainous area in central Sinai.

Since 2013, state security forces, represented by both the army and the police, have been engaged in violent clashes with an Islamist insurgency in parts of the North Sinai governorate.

The Islamist insurgency has killed hundreds of Egyptian security forces, predominantly in North Sinai. The army also announced it has killed hundreds of militants.
