LE 120M allocated for relief sector in budget plan of Egypt's Solidarity Ministry

CAIRO - 11 October 2022: A total of 120 million pounds were allocated for the relief sector in the budget of the Ministry of Solidarity in Egypt this financial year, according to Minister Nevine al-Kabbaj.
 
She added that 10 million pounds to be subsidized to purchase additional relief missions, like
providing relief centers in the governorates with a sufficient number of items in preparation for the winter season.
 
Minister Nevin Al-Kabbaj directed to raise the degree of preparedness within the relief centers across the country, in preparation for facing climatic changes in the fall and the winter seasons, where there are accompanying rains that may reach torrential levels with the approaching winter.
 
She also directed to start implementing the precautionary measures in preparation for facing any possible accidents or disasters, especially in the governorates most prone to rainfall.
 
The Minister of Social Solidarity indicated the formation of a relief work team in the ministry in preparation for the winter season, and the weather fluctuations that may occur, while the relief centers in the governorates were provided with a sufficient number of relief items and tools in preparation for the winter season, and this includes: blankets and mattresses. 
 
Regarding coordination with civil society institutions and partner NGOs, the Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed that the directors of the directorates were directed to coordinate with relief centers and heads of cities and neighborhoods and direct the Egyptian Red Crescent Society and the Social Solidarity Foundation to prepare for this in terms of medical, monetary and in-kind intervention in the event of any occurrence disaster or catastrophe.
