Egyptian delegation participates at Shinzo Abe funeral, delivers message from Sisi to PM Kishida

CAIRO – 28 September 2022: The Egyptian delegation, headed by Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir, and accompanied by Egypt's Ambassador to Tokyo, Mohamed Abu Bakr, laid wreath of roses during the funeral ceremony of the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

 Minister Kamel el Wazir has delivered a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

During a meeting with Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno on Wednesday, Wazir offered Egypt's condolences to Japan over the passing away of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

Wazir described the later premier as "an exceptional leader and a faithful friend of Egypt."

He also stressed the importance of Kishida's participation in the 2022 UN climate conference, COP27, which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

For his part, Matsuno thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for naming a traffic axis and a phase of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) after the later premier
