CAIRO - 19 September 2022: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli participated on Monday in Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, said the Cabinet in a statement.

After the funeral, Madbouli wrote a message in the condolence book of the queen, affirming Egypt’s support to the British people during this current sad moment.

“On behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the people and the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, I extend sincerest condolences to King Charles III over the death of Queen Elizabeth II,” Madbouli wrote in the book.

“The Egyptian people stand by the people of Britain in this sad moment and wish [the British people] continued development and prosperity,” he added.

Around 2,000 guests, including 500 world leaders and foreign officials, gathered in London’s Westminster Abbey today to bid farewell to late Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.

On Saturday, President Sisi spoke by phone with King Charles III to offer his condolences to the people and government of Britain for the second time over the death of the queen, saying she devotedly served her people and country for decades.

The President expressed his best wishes for King Charles and the British people in the future steps, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

King Charles III thanked President Sisi for this kind gesture, which confirms the special traditional relations between the two countries, Rady continued.

The call touched on a number of issues of common interest, particularly climate change, in light of the multiple initiatives sponsored by the British king in this field. This is also in addition to Egypt hosting the upcoming COP 27 summit in November in Sharm El-Sheikh, Rady said.

King Charles III was officially proclaimed as the new King of the United Kingdom after the death of Queen Elizabeth at her home in Scotland aged 96 last week.

Following the death of the Queen, President Sisi voiced his sincere condolences in the name of Egypt and its people to the royal family, the British government and people over the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Posting on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Sisi said "I offer my sincere condolences, in my name and on behalf of the Egyptian people, to the royal family, the UK government and people on the death of Queen Elizabeth II that ruled her country for long decades with complete wisdom."
