CAIRO/JEDDAH - 13 July 2017: The general secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its regret Thursday for the decision made by the US administration to extend the sanctions imposed on Sudan for three months.

The decision came though the Arab country honored all its commitments that were agreed upon during dialogue between the two sides, the OIC said.

In a statement of which MENA got a copy, the general secretariat said the resolutions issued by the Islamic Summit and the foreign ministers' council have called on the US administration to lift the unfair sanctions.

The resolutions urged the US to remove Sudan from the list of terror-sponsoring countries due to its cooperation with the international community in combating terrorism with all its forms.

The general secretariat of the Jeddah-based OIC further stressed its support and solidarity with Sudan, urging the US to fully lift the sanctions in October.
