Egypt's Health Min. stresses importance of partnership between private, public sectors in health domain

CAIRO - 20 April 2022: Minister of Higher Education and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar underlined the importance of partnership between the private and public sectors to improve health and medical services.


He said the state is committed to establishing a comprehensive health insurance system to ensure that all people get their right in integrated health care under the international quality standards.

He made the remarks on Wednesday during a conference with the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo to stand on means of promoting cooperation to enhance the health sector and the pharmaceutical industry in Egypt.

The minister reviewed a report on the coronavirus pandemic and that it is taking a down curve, stressing that the state has swiftly responded to challenges imposed by the pandemic and has dealt with them wisely.

He also tackled the progress realized so far in the comprehensive health insurance project which is being implemented in six stages.

The project will cover over 4 million people in the first stage which includes the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, Luxor, Aswan, South Sinai and Suez, the minister said, referring to the presidential initiatives for improving public health, including 100 million Seha (Health) overture which served about 86 million people.

As for the pharmaceutical industries, he reviewed the capabilities of the Arab Company for Drug Industries & Medical Appliances (ACDIMA) which aims to localize developed pharmaceutical industries in accordance with up-to-date international standards.

He added that the company exports its products to 70 states worldwide.

He also reviewed the capabilities of the Egyptian Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA)
