CAIRO - 29 March 2022: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said there are constant directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as regards proceeding with efforts made by all state bodies to ensure the availability of commodities for citizens in the coming period.

The directives are also related to setting up more commodity fairs and outlets during the holy fasting month of Ramadan and thereafter, he added.

Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting he chaired on Monday of the crisis committee meant to confront the impact of the current global crisis on strategic commodities.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el Moselhi, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el Qabbag, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed El Quseir, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea, in addition to a number of senior state officials.

During the meeting, the prime minister emphasized the importance of continuing and intensifying campaigns on markets in order to maintain discipline, as well as to prevent any monopolistic practices or attempts to hoard commodities.

This comes in accordance with President Sisi's directives in this regard, Madbouli said.

The meeting also touched on preparations for Egypt’s wheat harvest season this year.
