CAIRO – 28 March 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Monday his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in Cairo to discuss cooperation in the energy sector, particularly natural gas and electricity linkage, and to follow up on the activation of the bilateral and trilateral MoUs with Cyprus on that front.

The two ministers stressed the importance of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum as a multilateral cooperation framework in the energy field. They also examined ways of developing the overall economic cooperation, and increasing trade exchange, and joint investments.

The ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, indicated in a press statement that the talks tapped on some regional and international issues, in light of the current international scene.

In that context, "Shokry and Dendias expressed appreciation for the pace of continuous political consultation between both states to coordinate stances on issues of mutual interest."
