CAIRO – 18 March 2022: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry handed a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Joko Widodo, Indonesia’s president, on issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Widodo received Shoukry on Friday, who is visiting Indonesia as his third stop in his Asian tour which started last week, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Sisi’s message to Widodo also addressed enhancing bilateral relations in a way that meets the aspirations of the two countries and also the ongoing efforts to prepare for the 2022 UN Climate Conference (COP27), which Egypt will host in November, the statement said.

Shoukry expressed during the meeting Egypt's aspiration to enhance all aspects of relations between Egypt and Indonesia, highlighting the importance of continuing consultations between the two countries in light of their desire to coordinate positions in line with the aspirations of their two friendly peoples and the significant common interests between Egypt and Indonesia.

Shoukry’s Asian tour has included Singapore and Malaysia, where he met with senior officials and delivered messages from Sisi to Singapore’s and Malaysian prime ministers.
