CAIRO – 15 March 2022: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry conferred Monday with Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Mohamed Azmin Ali on expanding cooperation in the realm of trade and investment.

 

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a business dinner that encompassed Malaysian senior officials, and prominent members of the business community, including the CEO of PETRONAS Global.

 

It is noted that the size of trade between Egypt and Malaysia hiked by 80 percent in 2021 compared to 2020 recording almost $1 billion.

 

Minister Shokry had earlier delivered a message from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob.

 

Malaysia is the first destination of the Asian tour the minister of foreign affairs has embarked on. His next destinations include Singapore, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

 

During the meeting with the Malaysian prime minister, Minister Shokry expressed his aspiration that the visit would be a chance to give more momentum to bilateral relations.
