CAIRO – 27 February 2022: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Sunday that Mohamed Saad Ragab Mohamed Zayed got shot with two bullets and that he is currently lying in a hospital at Kharkov eastern Ukraine.

A press statement indicated that "Minister Sameh Shokry directed Egypt's ambassador to Kiev to take all the necessary measures to provide the Egyptian citizen with all care, and optimum support in a very fast pace in light of the crisis the entire Ukrainian territories are experiencing."

Also, assistant to the minister for consulate affairs and expats received the family of the injured national reassuring them about his health condition, and that the Egyptian embassy is taking good care of him.

In a similar context, a series of statements issued by the embassy’s Facebook page on Friday announced that the embassy is contacting the Romanian and Polish authorities to provide a safe exit for Egyptian nationals in Ukraine.

A group of Egyptians in Ukraine already arrived in Cairo and 1,000 others are expected to reach the Romanian capital of Bucharest, Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expats Affairs Nabila Makram said Saturday.

In a phone-in with TV host Azza Mostafa on Sada Al-Balad, Makram said Egypt has around 3,000 students in Ukraine, affirming that she had asked them to abide by the embassy’s instructions and security rules.

"Students in southern and central Ukraine should stay at home, because the situation is currently difficult, and we advise them not to leave their homes," Makram added.
