CAIRO – 12 July 2017: Turkish authorities on Tuesday cracked down on the Opposition March, led by opposition figure Kemal Kilicdaroglu, from Anqara to Istanbul, Turkish opposition newspaper “Zaman” reported.

108 of the Turkish Airlines workers, and Turk Telecom company personnel, together with academics from (TÜBİTAK) Science and Technology Agency have been arrested and detained by Turkish authorities.

The Organized Crime Division, affiliated to Istanbul Security Directorate, began a new campaign according to the directions of the Public Persecution. The unit launched concurrent campaigns against employees in the transportation and telecom sectors.

The so-called Justice March is meant to act as a response to a crackdown that began after last July's failed coup attempt. The marchers say they are trying to reach out to political divisions to draw the attention to the thousands of people who have been jailed and lost jobs in the crackdown.
