The exercises are being held for several days in the Red Sea, and consist of lectures and practical activities. Those are pertinent to unifying maritime concepts among different states, maritime security, encountering threats, securing ships carrying important cargo, handling maritime mines, and training on commanding, control, and medical works.

IMX is an annual event led by the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT). However, this year, they are combined with the annual U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) exercise that includes a number of East African and West Indian Ocean states.
