CAIRO - 23 January 2022:  The United States of America would send Egypt a new delivery of 1.8 million doses of Pfizer vaccine, funded by the U.S. Government, said the US embassy in Cairo in a statement on Sunday.

“So far, the U.S. has delivered more than 21 million high-quality U.S. vaccine doses that will help protect the people of Egypt from coronavirus,” the statement read.

On 16 January 2022, Egypt received 3 million doses of Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine, provided by the US, through COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance.

Two days ago, Egypt received 667,100 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Belgium and Germany via COVAX in cooperation with GAVI Alliance (formerly the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation), said Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Health Ministry spokesman in a statement on Friday.

This comes within the state's plan to diversify and expand the provision of coronavirus vaccines, in order to preserve the state's gains in addressing the pandemic.

Egypt received, on January 8, 2022, a shipment of one million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from Argentina on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

On December 31, 2021, Egypt received a shipment of 347,460 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine via the COVAX Facility.
