CAIRO - 17 January 2022: An anticipated visit by Libya's First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Hussein al-Qatrani to Russia is still under study, a Russian diplomat revealed Sunday.

The date and time of the visit have not been specified yet, the diplomat noted in a statement carried by RIA Novosti.

Work is still in progress to prepare for such a visit; however, no agreement has so far been reached regarding the visit's date or schedule, the same source added.

Meanwhile, the Libyan government’s press service said earlier that Qatrani would visit Russia on January 16-20, but the visit was postponed, TASS reported earlier today.

The agenda of the Libyan politician’s talks in Russia is expected to include issues of the withdrawal of foreign troops and mercenaries from Libya, as well as the situation around the postponement of the presidential and parliamentary elections, according to the GNU press service.

Qatrani is expected to be accompanied by Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Aoun, Health Minister Ali Al-Zanati and Minister of Planning Kamal al-Hassi.
