CAIRO – 29 November 2021: In a bid to attract youths to visit natural reserves and protectorates, Egypt’s Ministry of Environment announced 50 percent reduction on tickets.

Dr. Hoda El-Shawadfy, Assistant Minister of Environment for Environmental Tourism Affairs, said that Egypt has 30 natural reserves, only 13 of which are provided for recreational and tourism activities and services.

The infrastructure has been developed for these reserves, said Shawadfy, pointing out that the “Eco Egypt” campaign was launched, aiming to raise awareness about the nature reserve and what it contains, and the activities that can be carried out in them.

Shawadfi added, in her interviews with “Al-Mashhad” TV program Sunday, that the ministry is presenting tourism opportunities in the reserves through communication sites to attract young people, explaining that the Coronavirus crisis along with people’s desire to visit open-air places contributed to increasing the demand for reserves, explaining that Ras Mohammed, Nabq, and the Petrified Forest are among the most important reserves in Egypt, in which recreational and tourist activities are available.

She further said that tickets for visiting the reserves were reduced by 50 percent, to encourage young people in the governorates to visit the reserves.
