Rain expected to continue in Greater Cairo, Egypt’s northern parts on Sunday: EMA

CAIRO – 20 November 2021: Varying rainfall will continue in northern Egypt until the Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt on Sunday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority expects.

The EMA expects instability in weather conditions to ease by Sunday, while temperature is expected to drop in these areas.

Mild to moderate rainfall will also continue in northern coasts and northern Delta, according to the EMA expectations.

Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, and many northern governorates witnessed mild to moderate rainfall on Saturday with the Greater Cairo authorities removing excess water from streets.

Northern governorates, including Matrouh and Alexandria have witnessed heavy rainfall and thunder.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has expected the country to witness a state of unstable weather and moderate rain, possibly accompanied with thunder, on the northern parts on Saturday and Sunday.

According to a report by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority on Thursday, mild to moderate rainfall is expected on parts of the Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.

Moderate rainfall is also expected on the area of the Gulf of Suez on Sunday.

Moderate to heavy rainfall, possibly accompanied with thunder, is expected on the northern coasts and parts of northern Egypt, the EMA said.

The traffic department ordered an emergency room in anticipation of rainfall and deployed traffic cranes to remove obstacles from streets.

A number of governorates, including Alexandria, Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh, Matrouh and Dakahlia, have suspended schools on Saturday and Sunday.
