CAIRO - 7 November 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi condemned the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Khadhimi.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, President Sisi said that he was, with deep concern, following up on the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, saying “As I condemn this brute attempt, I pray to Allah to protect him [Kadhimi] and to bring safety and security to Iraq and its people.”

President Sisi also called upon all Iraqi political parties to calm down, reject violence, and work together to achieve stability for their nation.

Kadhimi has survived an assassination attempt when a drone laden with explosives targeted his house inside the Green Zone in Baghdad at dawn.

Also, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the assassination attempt, saying that Egypt stands by Iraq against everything that threatens its security and stability or undermines its cohesion.

“Egypt stresses that these miserable terrorist acts will not discourage Iraq from completing national achievements, the latest of which was the holding of parliamentary elections last month,” the statement read.
