CAIRO – 20 September 2021: The joint Egyptian-Cypriot Exercises (Ptolemy 2021) – carried out by Special Forces' elements of both countries - concluded Sunday after taking place for several days in a Cypriot base.

 

 

The first stage of the exercises consisted of a number of lectures to acquaint participants with the combat experience of each side, and subsequently, achieve better integration and harmony among the forces as well as coordinate efforts to accomplish the missions. The purpose of the lectures was also presenting the technical and tactical characteristics of the arms, and exchanging experience over first aid.

With regard the practical side, participating elements did typical and atypical shooting using live rounds and small rounds from various positions. They also trained on raiding a terrorist hideout in a residential area, and clearing it from armed elements.

Ptolemy 2021 is the first of its kind among the Egyptian and Cypriot Special Forces, spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces indicated.
