Egyptian minister details aspects of agricultural cooperation with South Sudan

CAIRO – 27 July 2021: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al sayed al-Qusair received Tuesday the South Sudanese minister of animal resources and fisheries to discuss joint cooperation.

 

Given that Egypt has achieved self-sufficiency of eggs and is close to becoming self-sufficient of pourtly, it can export to South Sudan its needs of such products, Minister Qusair indicated saying that on the other hand, South Sudan can export to Egypt cattle.

 

In that context, both ministers discussed delegating Egyptian experts to transfer experience to the South Sudanese side in the fields of cattle care and medicines. They also conferred over cooperation in the agricultural research field.

 

The Egyptian minister noted that South Sudan enjoys vast spaces to establish fisheries whose output can fulfill local needs and also achieve surplus.  

 

Qusair stated that the delegation accompanying the South Sudanese minister will visit a number of public agricultural research centers and projects to get an idea about the Egyptian experience in the sector.

 

On his side, the South Sudanese minister pointed out that his country wants the help of Egypt in the capacity-building of workers in the sectors of pourtly, milk collection, and fisheries.
