CAIRO – 13 July 2021: Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn said that the Renaissance Dam issue is complicated, stressing that Egypt will respond seriously to any shortage in the water level.

 

At the same time, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks in Brussels with Joseph Borrell, High Representative for Political and Security Affairs of the European Union.

 

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a post on his account on Twitter that both sides consulted on common regional and international challenges, and opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and the European Union.

 

"The Renaissance Dam, Libya and the peace process are among the topics under discussion between both sides," the spokesperson added.

 

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that European foreign ministers inquired about the developments in the Renaissance Dam file, the activities of the Security Council, Egypt's vision towards this issue, and future actions, and “there is interest in confirming the justice of the Egyptian position, and appreciating Egypt's approach to this issue, especially after showing flexibility and working to achieve the interest of the three countries.
