CAIRO – 10 June 2021: Egypt’s Railways Authority stated that 407 new Russian and Hungarian train vehicles have arrived so far in Egypt as part of a deal signed with Russian company Transmash.

 

Worth one billion, 16 million and 50 thousand Euros, the deal is to manufacture and supply the Egyptian railway system with 1,300 train vehicles.   

 

The new vehicles are third-class vehicles with dynamic ventilation, and will operate on the main lines.

 

The deal includes 800 air-conditioned cars and 500 third class cars with dynamic ventilation.

 

Egypt has started receiving new train vehicles as part of a plan to renovate its train fleet. The deal is meant to raise the efficiency of daily operation and regularity of operating schedules, aiming to improve the service provided for passengers.
