CAIRO – 7 July 2017: The United Arab Emirates condemned two terrorist attacks on an army checkpoint in, North Sinai, in an official

statement

issued by Foreign Ministry and published via the Emirates News Agency website on Friday.

''We stand with the Egyptian state and people against extremism and terrorism,'' said the statement, calling for concerted effort to combat the dangerous phenomena terrorism.

''A new crime, which adds to the black record of terrorism and terrorists,'' the statement further lamenting the terrorist attack, which resulted in killing and injuring Egyptian 26 soldiers in North Sinai.

The UAE Foreign Ministry praised the Egyptian Armed Forces for thwarting the terrorist attack, by destroying several vehicles and killing the militants who attacked the checkpoint.

The statement concluded by expressing the UAE's condolences to the leadership, government and people of Egypt, and the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.

This attack took place in light of Egypt and other Gulf countries launching a campaign against Qatar for allegedly backing terrorism.
