CAIRO - 19 May 2021: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall agreed on Wednesday on joint coordination on the Renaissance Dam issue and on stronger economic ties.

In a meeting in Paris, where Sisi is attending a Sudan-focused meeting, the two African leaders said they would continue to exchange views on GERD to avoid potential risk to the security of the region.

Sisi and Sall also agreed on enhancing trade, investment, and providing technical assistance and capacity building.

The Egyptian President emphasized Senegal’s importance in Western Africa, underscoring keenness on further economic cooperation. They also discussed several African issues as Senegal is set to preside over the African Union in 2022.

For his part, the Senegalese President praised Egypt’s efforts towards comprehensive development and putting its expertise and capacities in the service of African nations.
