CAIRO – 4 July 2017: Three security personnel have died; and another ten were injured in an armored explosion south of Arish city, North Sinai, according to sources who told Egypt Today.

The ten injured personnel were transferred to Arish hospital for more examinations; the medical report issued later stated that the injuries included wounds, fractures and shrapnel. Martyrs’ bodies were handed over to their families.

Initial information refers to the involvement of armed groups based in Arish in the incident, and that several troops were deployed in the city searching for them.
On June 18, two police officers died in a blast targeting a Central Security Forces (CSF) vehicle on the Autostrad road, near the Cairo suburb of Maadi. Additionally four security personnel were injured.

On June 19, three ‘terrorists’ were killed, and 23 others arrested in northern Sinai by the military, according to a statement released by the army spokesperson Tamer el-Refaey. Also on June 12, another two ‘terrorists’ were killed and two others were arrested on accusations of being members of terrorist groups.
