CAIRO – 22 March 2021: Khamaseen winds blow up over Egypt starting from 11:00 pm on Monday to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warns.

Khamaseen is a dry, hot and sandy local wind that annually blow in Egypt and the Levant in Spring.

Due to the rapid changes of the spring season, Egypt is being affected by dry and dusty winds coming from a low-pressure area in Libyan desert to Egypt, EMA added in a statement.

Egypt is currently experiencing a wave of unstable weather, with skies blanketed with dust and an increase in temperature is witnessed across the country.

Egypt’s official forecast agency warned of the weather during the coming days especially for drivers who take high ways with expected rain and fogs in the early mornings.

The General Traffic Authority stressed drivers should abide by the determined speed to avoid accidents.
