The Federation also confirmed in a statement, Wednesday, that there are no withdrawal commissions when using the issuing bank’s automated teller machine network, as it is a free service for customers of each bank.
The Federation of Egyptian Banks denied on Tuesday reports alleging that Egyptian banks partake in funding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
FEB said the formation of the federation's new board included Head of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), who assumed the post of deputy head of FEB, and Hussein Abaza who was named as secretary general of the FEB's fund.
The National Council for Payments agreed on the major steps needed to transform Egypt into non cash-based society over the coming years.
