In a statement, the Egyptian foreign ministry said the move represents a significant and positive development toward de-escalation, containing tensions, and safeguarding the security, stability and resources of the region and the world.
Egypt described the deal as “a ray of hope” for unifying the Yemenis ranks and shaping a comprehensive national vision.
The Presidency said on Friday evening that the grand opening will witness an unprecedented international attendance, with 79 official delegations, including 39 led by kings, princes, and heads of state and government.
“We commend this important step that would contribute to achieving security and stability in brotherly Lebanon and restoring [the country’s] regional status that it deserves,” the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Both sides agreed to appoint Naji Mohamed Issa Belqasem as the governor of the Central Bank of Libya.
Hafez expressed Egypt's support and aspiration to continue the political efforts exerted by the UN envoy to Libya to achieve the main goal.
