Egyptian Water Resources Minister
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam made the remarks days ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference, co-hosted by the United Arab Emirates and Senegal and scheduled to take place in the UAE from 2-4 December.
Abdel Aati affirmed the need for a binding agreement on the filling and operation of the massive GERD in a way that meet the aspiration of the three concerned countries of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in development.
Egypt’s Water Resources Minister has introduced an Egyptian proposal on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, aiming at ensuring the Ethiopian goal of generating electricity and, at the same time, avoiding any harm to the Egyptian and Sudanese interests.
