Egyptian Defense Minister
The Egyptian defense minister is leading a high-level military delegation during the official visit, which comes at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, the Armed Forces’ spokesman said on Sunday.
General Zaher reaffirmed the strength of the longstanding ties between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination, joint action, and expanding cooperation across various military fields.
The main phase included the execution of combat operations aimed at developing the offensive, with support from Air Force elements that carried out reconnaissance, protection, and support sorties to assist ground forces.
Zaher was briefed on recent development and modernization efforts within the zone in the presence of Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa and commanders of the main branches, the military said in a statement.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Lt. Gen. Ashraf Salem Zaher met with Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Rodolphe Haykal and his delegation, currently visiting Egypt.
Zaher succeeds Gen. Abdel Majeed Saqr, who had held the post since July 2024.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Wednesday with General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, the Presidency said.
Munir met in Cairo with General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production of Egypt, and Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
The exercise is part of the Armed Forces’ combat training plan for its formations and departments and in line with the objective of reviewing operational plans in light of prevailing and emerging challenges, the Armed Forces’ spokesman said in a video statement on Saturday.
Saqr emphasized his appreciation for the relations between the Egyptian and Indonesian armed forces, noting the importance of coordinating efforts and expanding the horizons of future military cooperation.
The minister ordered enhancing the technical capabilities of weapons and other military equipment and improving their performance.
Saqr expressed gratitude for the strong ties between the Egyptian armed forces and those of other African nations, commending the ongoing collaborative efforts across various military sectors
