According to WHO, Egypt is not included in the African meningitis belt.
Giza governorate has denied circulating reports claiming that cases of meningitis have been detected in a number of schools in Al Omrania district.
A statement by the center has said the virus can also be transmitted through food or using the same utensils as the infected person.
