Ethiopia has cracked down on foreign media over covering the Tigray conflict with “bias,” suspending the license of Reuters and warning BBC and Deutsche Welle of the same fate.
The death of protesters has sparked outrage on social media, which despite a government blackout, was able to document violence against peaceful protestors.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Sunday said he discussed “new defense strategy” with general officers of the National Defense Force, few days after talks on Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) with Egypt and Sudan failed to reach any agreement.
Ahmed’s remarks came in a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Forum in Sochi, Russia held from October 23-24.
Ambassador Abu Bakr Hefny said on Tuesday that Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia are collaborating, affirming the establishment of a fund to finance joint projects.
