Electricity Interconnection
Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with his Saudi counterpart Abdulaziz bin Salman in Riyadh to discuss ways to support and enhance cooperation and partnership in the energy fields, open new horizons in the fields of electricity storage and renewable energy, and review developments in the implementation of the electrical interconnection project between the two countries.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to the electricity interconnection project, highlighting the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Greece.
According to MoU, the submarine electric cable will provide a direct link for the exchange of electricity between the two countries and extends to the market of the European Union.
Shaker added that the rest of the capacities will be entered successively until they reach 3,000 MW for exchange with the Saudi side.
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi arrived to the Cyprus capital, Nicosia, on Monday.
