Several cafés in Cairo have been closed during the past days due to violating coronavirus precautionary measures including serving shisha [hookah].
Cairo governor, major general Khaled Abdel Aal, decided Monday to ban hookah’s service at all cafes and restaurants located in Cairo.
The World Health Organization stressed that hookah transfers coronavirus, and that tobacco reduces the body’s ability to combat the virus.
According to a report issued by the US medical site "MedicalXpress" in November 2018, smoking hookah leads to atherosclerosis and increased heartbeat.
The Alexandria-based Center for Environmental Affairs will submit a request to regulate indoor shisha (hookah) in public cafés.
