The visit comes as part of the government’s efforts to support local industry and manufacturing. Prime Minister Madbouly recently launched the first phase of a EGP-30-billion initiative aimed at financing the purchase of new machinery and production lines for factories.
The tour which will include the inauguration of development and expansion works at an iron and steel factory.
Madbouli inspected a factory for Chinese Vivo Communication Technology Co., and a factory for German Bosch appliances. The Prime Minister also inspected the Sanipure factory for sanitary ware. Egypt was importing smartphones for more than $1.5 billion annually, he said.
Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir attended Thursday the signing of a contract to establish a dry port in Cairo's 10th of Ramadan City, and an MoU to introduce another in Alexandria's Borg Al Arab.
The first agreement is for an electric train that connects the 10th of Ramadan City and the New Administrative Capital with the cost of $739 million.
The factory will be established on an area of 200,000 square meters and is scheduled to start production by the middle of next year.
