Khartoum Process
Egypt has presided over the process since April 2024 with the aim of coordinating international efforts and addressing migration issues between the Mediterranean and the Horn of Africa.
The Khartoum Process is a platform for political cooperation for the countries along the migration route between the Horn of Africa and Europe. It was established on 28 November 2014, at a Ministerial Conference held in Rome. It aims to fight the trafficking in human beings and the smuggling of migrants. It is also known as “the EU-Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative.”
