Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty made the remarks during recent talks with the foreign ministers of Qatar, Oman and Iran as well as US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
Witkoff made the remarks as he delivered a speech Saturday evening at the Hostages Square in central Tel Aviv, alongside Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump.
“Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Egypt later today to finalize the technical details of the hostage release and discuss the lasting peace deal,” media quoted a White House official as saying.
Witkoff did not give further details about the meeting or its participants as he spoke during an interview with Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” show on Tuesday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Wednesday with US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff to discuss the crisis in Gaza and developments related to Iran’s nuclear program.
Abdel-Aty also stressed the need to maintain Sudanese state institutions, provide relief and humanitarian aid to Sudan and its neighboring countries, and ensure that the Sudanese people retain ownership of the political process.
