The seismology department at the Egyptian National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) recorded the quake 631 kilometers north of Rosetta.
In remarks to state-owned Akhbar El-Youm, head of the Egyptian National Seismic Network at NRIAG Mohamed Abd al-Hay said the tremors took place on 3:30 PM local time with magnitudes of 4.8 and 4.89 and at depths of 13 and 14.5 km.
