Egypt retrieves stolen piece of King Ramses II statue from Switzerland

Egypt has successfully recovered a remarkable 3,400-year-old fragment of King Ramses II's statue, which had been stolen from the ancient site of Abydos and smuggled to Switzerland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

The smuggled artifacts have been already handed over to Egypt’s Ambassador to Switzerland Wael Gad from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in August last year, the ministry said in a statement.
