EgyptAir to operate flights between Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor

CAIRO – 14 February 2020: Egyptian state-owned flag carrier EgyptAir announced operating direct flights between South Sinai’s Sharm El Sheikh, northeastern the country, known for magnificent natural landscapes and Upper Egypt’s Luxor which houses numerous ancient landscapes and pharaonic monuments, starting Thursday.

In an interview with Egypt Today, tourism expert Mohamed Othman said EgyptAir will operate these direct flights every week on Thursday, starting February 20th until May 28th.

The comfortable Airbus A220-300 planes will be used for these three months, Othman said, adding that clients would be able to book their tickets through the electronic website or by calling 1717.

Tourism Minister Khaled al-Anani earlier in February announced launching several mechanisms to serve the tourism sector, most prominently operating new flights to connect Luxor with Red Sea’s Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh at the end of February.

In January, EgyptAir announced operating direct flights from Cairo to Dublin, Ireland, starting from July 2020.

Also, in November last year, EgyptAir operated its first non-stop flight to Hangzhou, China from Cairo International Airport terminal 3, carrying 260 passengers. However, flights to Chinese cities, including Hangzhou was suspended to prevent starting February to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

21 hot air balloons take off in Luxor.

LUXOR, Upper Egypt - 13 February 2020: Twenty-one hot air balloon flights took off in Luxor on Thursday, carrying 450 tourists of various nationalities.
