CAIRO - 10 January 2020: EgyptAir will resume its flights to Baghdad on Saturday after a three-day suspension due to the unrest and escalation in the region following the assassination of Iranian leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Qassem Soleimani by US drones in Iraq.

The company said in a statement that its decision came after reviewing and evaluating the security situation in Iraq.

“The security developments are closely followed up in coordination with all concerned parties to take the necessary decisions for preserving the safety of passengers and aircraft,” the statement read.

The company has asked the passengers on its flights to and from Baghdad to review and amend their reservations via calling 1717 or visiting the company office in Cairo, the statement continued.

On January 8, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation suspended the company's decision to ensure the safety of passengers and airplanes until security is established in the city.
