CAIRO – 7 January 2018: Cairo Governor, Atef Abdel Hamid, announced that entry tickets to Cairo national parks will be for free on Sunday, in celebration of the Coptic Christmas holiday.

The Governor’s decision comes as part of the efforts by the Public Transportation Authority to provide additional buses serving citizens during Christmas festivities.

The General Authority for Cleanliness and Beautification of Cairo has intensified its campaigns at national parks, as well as raising the efficiency and effectiveness of its services to meet the requirements of citizens.

The Cathedral of Christ Nativity at the New Administrative Capital, 45 kilometers East of Cairo, held the Christmas Mass on January 7 for the first time. Egyptian Copts attended the ceremony in celebration of Christmas day, led by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark’s Diocese.

The ceremony was attended by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Minister of Defense, Sedki Sobhi, Senior Government officials and Foreign Ambassadors.

The Egyptian Coptic Christian community celebrates Christmas on January 7.
