CAIRO-20 February 2021: Egypt basketball national team defeated Cape Verde 94-65 on Saturday in the second stage of the 2021 AfroBasket qualifiers.

The Pharaohs, led by head coach Ahmed Marei, secured their fourth victory in the group to cement their position atop of group E.

Egypt dominated the match from the start to the end and had the upper hand in the game to win the match and keep the Pharaohs’ winning streak in the qualifiers going.

The quarters’ results came as following: Q1: 22-13 Q2: 38-29 Q3: 54-42 and Q4: 94-65.

Egypt plays in Group E alongside Uganda, Cape Verde and Morocco.

The Pharaohs will face Morocco on Sunday in our last match in the second stage of the 2021 AfroBasket qualifiers.

Egypt already secured qualification to the 2021 AfroBasket, which will be held in Rwanda between 24 August and 5 September.

The competition was initially scheduled a week earlier but it was moved back amid COVID-19 pandemic.
